An eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) removes sagging skin and fat bags to restore a youthful, rested look. It does not alter the natural almond shape of your eyes unless combined with a canthoplasty.
For the upper eyelids, the scar is hidden in the natural horizontal eyelid crease. For the lower eyelids, the incision is placed either just below the lash line or entirely inside the lid (transconjunctival), leaving no scar.
You will use cold compresses for the first 48 hours to minimize swelling. Prescribed lubricating eye drops and sleeping with your head elevated on pillows will keep your eyes comfortable.
You must avoid eye makeup, mascara, and lash extensions for at least 14 days to prevent irritating the delicate incisions and causing infection.
Eyelid skin heals very quickly. The tiny sutures are removed at our clinic 5 to 7 days after the surgery, which is a quick and painless process.
