Procedure Overview
Septoplasty is a corrective surgical procedure designed to straighten a deviated nasal septum—the partition of bone and cartilage that divides your nostrils. This procedure corrects chronic nasal congestion, snoring, sleep apnea, and sinus issues by restoring balanced bilateral airflow.
Key Aspects & Outcomes:
- Corrects chronic nasal obstruction and improves overall quality of sleep.
- Done entirely inside the nostrils with no external cuts or scars.
- Can be combined with rhinoplasty (septorhinoplasty) for aesthetic improvements.

Internal Incision
The surgeon makes an incision inside the nasal cavity to access the septum, preventing any visible scarring.
Septal Realignment
Deviated bone and cartilage are carefully repositioned, trimmed, or straightened to clear the nasal passages.
Silicone Splints
Soft silicone splints are placed to support the septum during healing, which are removed painlessly in 5-7 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. A septoplasty is a functional medical procedure performed inside the nasal cavity to straighten a deviated septum. It does not alter the external cosmetic appearance of your nose unless combined with a rhinoplasty (septorhinoplasty).
No. Unlike cosmetic nose surgery, a septoplasty does not require fracturing the nasal bones. The surgeon accesses the septum entirely through internal incisions to trim and reposition the blocked cartilage.
We use modern, lightweight silicone splints that allow you to breathe immediately after surgery. These splints are gently removed by our medical team during your follow-up checkup, usually 5 to 7 days post-op.
You must avoid blowing your nose for at least 2 weeks. Instead, you will use sterile saline sprays and gently wipe any discharge from the nostrils to protect the internal healing tissues.
Most patients take 5 to 7 days off work. While you will feel functional within a few days, you should avoid heavy lifting, bending over, and strenuous activities that could trigger a nosebleed.
